Standing with Kandy: Diana’s Rapid Clean-Up Initiative During the Sacred Dalada Veneration
During the Sacred Dalada Maligawa Veneration 2025, the city of Kandy experienced an unprecedented influx of devotees. The exceptionally large crowds created significant waste-management challenges, placing strain on public spaces and essential city infrastructure.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Diana Biscuits swiftly mobilized a volunteer team to support city-wide clean-up efforts. Our employees worked alongside local authorities and community volunteers to clear streets, public areas, and high-footfall zones affected during the veneration period.
As part of the same initiative, Diana also organized a biscuit dansala, providing refreshments to devotees who had travelled long distances to take part in the sacred observance. This effort was carried out in parallel with the clean-up activities, ensuring that both public welfare and city cleanliness were addressed during a period of exceptional crowd movement.
These actions reflect Diana’s broader commitment to environmental responsibility, civic duty, and community well-being. Beyond business, we believe corporate entities have a responsibility to act when communities need support the most.
We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who joined hands with us in restoring cleanliness and dignity to the sacred city of Kandy.
